Careers

Would you like to join us?

Simpsons Malt employ people to fulfil a wide range of roles at our Berwick-upon-Tweed and Tivetshall maltings and our grain stores. Many of those we employ have worked with us for decades, bringing vast amounts of knowledge and skill to their roles.

A growing family business

We’re a family business and many of the people who work here do so alongside members of their own families. We employ husbands and wives, sons and daughters and brother and sisters.
That we’re a family business is one of the keys to our longevity and sustained success. That we take a long view on our company’s future and are constantly looking for ways to innovate, refine and improve our processes is fundamental to our ethos.

“When I first started working here 39 years ago I was 19 years old and worked in the lab at Tivetshall. I remember watching the lads working in the floor maltings, turning the grain with malt shovels – it was hard physical labour. Simpsons’ investment in germinating and kilning vessels changed all that.”
Christopher Trumpess, Quality Control, Tivetshall Maltings, Norfolk

Increasing sales, developing careers

In 2016 we were proud to feature in The Newcastle Journal’s Top 200 North East Companies publication. The publication showcases the finest businesses the North East has to offer. In addition we are one of six North East companies to enter the Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table. This table ranks the UK’s private mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales.

“We look for an improvement mindset in our people, we look to invest in them and grow and develop their skills so that they can promote the production of our quality product.”
Martin Tilstone, HR Director, Berwick-upon-Tweed
