A Fond Farewell for two Long Service Employees Embarking on Retirement

Production Manager Chris Gaul and Laboratory Manager Peter Longmate have retired from Berwick-upon-Tweed based maltster Simpsons Malt following over 45 years combined service.

Joining Simpsons Malt in 1986, Chris was responsible for the day-to-day running of the GKVs, Malt deliveries, Tivetshall and Fersfield barley movements and the storage of the raw barley material and final Malt produce.  He is now looking forward to a well earned break as he explains: “I am looking forward to taking it easy and enjoying some holidays with my wife Karen before we move house in the New Year to be near to our children in Norwich.

“I would just like to say a big thank you to Simpsons Malt, it’s been a great company to work for all these years and I will miss everyone dearly.”

Peter Longmate started work with Simpsons Malt in 2001, and was involved in quality systems, supplier reviews, UKNIR Network &MAPS steering committees & MAGB Technical Committee. Most recently he was involved in the development of the taste panel, Malt Notes and the newly launched website.

Speaking of his retirement Peter said: “I thoroughly enjoyed working at Simpsons Malt but I now look forward plan to spend my retirement getting back in to golf and my love of music – I might even find the time to record in my new music room!

Simpsons Malt Vice-Chairman, Richard Simpson commented that the pair would be missed: “Chris and Peter have been great assets to the Simpsons family over the years and we wish them both all the best in their respective retirements.”
