Several Simpsons Malt employees have been recognised for their long service at the company at an annual awards dinner in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Hosted by Managing Director Tim McCreath, who was celebrating a long service milestone of his own, the dinner at the Queens Head Hotel & Restaurant celebrated 13 employees who have worked at the family-owned maltster’s two sites in Berwick and Tivetshall St Margaret for a combined total of 360 years.
Two members of staff, Customer Support Manager Peter Inglis and Senior Operator Andrew Knapp, were honoured with personalised, engraved decanters to mark their 40 years of service. Peter joined the company at its Tweed Valley Maltings shortly before his 18th birthday in July 1979, while Andrew joined Simpsons Malt in 1986 following the acquisition of Watney Mann & Truman but had been working at Tivetshall also since July 1979.

Grain Admin Assistant Liz Adam, Roast House Supervisor Shaun Bailey, Quality Systems Administrator Judith Kantor and Seed Analyst Ivan Martin were all recognised for their 30 years with the firm, while Fertiliser Supervisor Darren Cromarty, Maintenance Technician Mark Daynes and HGV Class 1 Drivers Mark Adam and Tom Hume joined Managing Director Tim in celebrating 25 years.
Agrochemical & Technical Director David Cairns was thanked for his 20 years and HGV Class 1 Driver Brian Halls was commended for his 15 years with the company.
Speaking about the evening, Tim said: “It’s always wonderful to be able to recognise the hard work and dedication that every one of our long-service employees brings to Simpsons Malt.
