Three of five Simpsons Malt vehicles on display at Truckfest Scotland 2019 at the Royal Highland Showground in Ingliston from August 3-4 have earned the coveted ‘Highly Commended’ status.
The trucks, which were all entered into the ‘Best Kept Company Owned Working Truck’ category, were assessed by a team of experts at the show, who scored everything from general aesthetics right down to the amount of dust in the wheel arches.
Of the 1,400 trucks on display at Truckfest Scotland, less than 100 received the honours and for David McCreath, Group Fleet Manager, the recognition from the judges is testament to the care Simpsons Malt’s HGV Drivers take in their vehicles on a day-to-day basis.
He said: “Each of our drivers takes great pride in representing Simpsons Malt out on the roads, delivering malt to our customers across the UK, and this is reflected in the conditioning of all of our trucks.
“When events such as Truckfest Scotland come along every year, our drivers relish the opportunity to showcase their truck in front of wagon enthusiasts and the judging panel and a lot of work is undertaken in the build-up to ensure that their vehicle stands a good chance of getting some recognition.
“I’m delighted that three of our trucks received the ‘Highly Commended’ status, which capped off an excellent weekend at Scotland’s biggest truck festival.”
