Medium Peated Malt

Striking a balance between smoke and spirit, Medium Peated Malt delivers a confident but approachable phenolic profile at 20-40ppm.  

Expect aromas of damp earth, smouldering wood and a measured medicinal edge, underpinned by a rich cereal backbone. This level of peat allows the distiller to build structure and smokiness into their whisky without overwhelming the malt character. 

This makes it ideal for single malts with a pronounced yet drinkable peated style or for creating complexity in blended whiskies. The malt is peated post-kilning at our dedicated peating plant to maximise phenol absorption while preserving malt integrity.
