Production Operator (Malt & Barley - Tivetshall St Margaret Maltings)

Hours

Averaging 47.6 hours per week, Monday to Friday (morning, afternoon and evening shifts) and some Saturday mornings (1 in 5). Additional hours may be required during peal harvest periods.

The successful candidate will support barley intake operations, manage the movement of barley and malt across the site, and maintain high standards of housekeeping within the intake area. The role forms part of a team responsible for efficient grain handling and safe site operations.

Key Tasks: 

  • Engage fully in relevant Health, Safety and Environmental training.
  • Ensure general hygiene and housekeeping of site is maintained to a good standard.
  • Ensure that plant and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
  • Running and cleaning of production equipment – training will be given.
  • Operation of forklift around the site as required.
  • Grain sampling and other quality checks.
  • Entry of process data into computer software.
  • Assist with the safe and efficient day to day running of the site.

Key Attributes (essential): 

  • Full driving licence, use of company vehicle may be available or mileage expenses for 
    working at other sites as and when required.
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to work co-operatively with others as part of a team
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours particularly at peak times of the year.
  • Good communication skills to develop working relationships.

Key Attributes (desirable): 

  • Forklift truck, Operator certificates.
  • IOSH Working Safety.
  • Experience of grain storage.

This position is very much a hands-on role and involves direct daily involvement with production performance and quality standards.

Simpsons Malt operates a Substance Misuse Policy and testing will be undertaken upon commencement of employment, with random testing thereafter.
