Brewing beyond barley

While barley remains the cornerstone of brewing and malt distilling, other cereals including wheat, oats and rye can also bring distinctive qualities that elevate the final beer or spirit.

Our Special Malts deliver interesting flavours and brewing characteristics - from body and mouthfeel builders to foam stabilisers.

They can also be used in a wide range of styles, meaning there's something for every brewer here.

Different production methods

Wheat Malt, Malted Rye and Malted Oats follow our traditional base malt production methods, with full modification and even germination.

Red Rye Crystal and Golden Naked Oats, meanwhile, are roasted in our state-of-the-art Roast House, following our crystal malt production methods. This gives Red Rye Crystal its sweet spiciness and Golden Naked Oats their smooth creaminess.

Dextrin and Chit Malt are made from high-quality barley, adding body, mouthfeel and improved head retention without altering colour or flavour.
