Crystal Dark
Crystal Dark is a bold, intensely crystalised malt where we get into the delicious realms of complex toffee, dark fruit and burnt sugar, but without the astringency of roasted malt.
With those flavours combined with a rich, ruby-brown hue (250-285 °EBC), it makes Crystal Dark a perfect choice for Porters, Stouts and Barleywines, where a fuller caramel depth and darker malt character are desired.
Typically used at 5-15% in the grist, Crystal Dark provides a deep malt backbone, balancing hop bitterness while enhancing colour, body and layered caramel complexity, making it an essential malt for brewers aiming for depth and richness in darker beer styles.
