Crystal Medium

Crystal Medium is a rich, deeply crystalised malt that imparts pronounced toffee, burnt sugar and light raisin-like notes, along with a warm copper-red hue (167-190 °EBC). 

It enhances body, mouthfeel and malt complexity, making it a key ingredient in Bitters, Red Ales, Brown Ales and Porters, where colour depth and deeper caramel notes are desired, without edging into roasted or burnt sugar flavours. 

Typically used at 5-15% in the grist, Crystal Medium is perfect for brewers looking to add depth, colour and residual sweetness, balancing hop bitterness with a rounded, toffee-like malt backbone.
