Extra Pale Ale Malt
Extra Pale Ale Malt is a highly versatile, low-colour base malt designed for brewers seeking a clean, delicate malt backbone that allows hops and speciality ingredients to shine.
Kilned at a lower temperature than Best Pale Ale Malt, it delivers a lighter colour (max 3.5 °EBC), making it ideal for pale, hop-forward styles like West Coast IPAs, Hazy IPAs and crisp Golden Ales. Its flavour is subtle yet refined, with gentle sweet biscuit notes and a touch of fresh grain character.
Compared to Golden Promise, Extra Pale Ale offers a crisper, drier finish with less perceived sweetness while, against Maris Otter, it is lighter in colour and body, with a cleaner malt profile and higher fermentability.
In comparison to Best Pale Ale, meanwhile, Extra Pale Ale prioritises brightness and drinkability, making it perfect for modern, vibrant beer styles where clarity and hop expression are key.
