Aromatic Malt
Aromatic Malt is a highly kilned, intensely flavourful malt that delivers rich, malty depth with deep amber to copper hues (50-70 °EBC). It boasts strong toasty, honeyed and slightly caramelised notes, with a pronounced malty-sweet aroma that enhances body and complexity in a range of styles from Belgian Dubbels to rich Amber Ales.
Compared to Imperial Malt, Aromatic Malt is sweeter and more aromatic, with less dryness and more pronounced malt richness.
Typically used at 5-20% in grists to boost malt character and aroma, it can contribute a rich malt backbone without overwhelming the beer. When used in smaller amounts, it adds depth and complexity, making it an excellent choice for brewers looking to enhance malt-forward beers with a warm, aromatic malt presence.
