Amber Malt
Amber Malt is a lightly roasted malt that delivers toasty, biscuity and dry nutty flavours, with a warm copper-brown hue (54-71 °EBC).
Our most versatile roasted malt, it adds depth, dryness and subtle roastiness without excessive bitterness, making it ideal for Bitters, Milds, Porters, Brown Ales and Stouts and other historical recipes where a crisp, toasty malt backbone is desired.
Compared to our highly kilned malts, Amber Malt is drier and more biscuity, offering less sweetness and more toastiness.
Typically used at 5-20% in the grist, Amber Malt enhances complexity and dryness, balancing sweeter caramel malts while adding a distinctive toasted, biscuity depth. It’s a great choice for brewers looking to introduce traditional malt character with a crisp, slightly roasted edge.
