Caramalt
Caramalt is a lightly caramelised malt that enhances beers with a delicate sweetness, subtle toffee notes and a smooth, rounded mouthfeel.
With a pale golden hue (30-42 °EBC), it provides gentle caramel and honey-like flavours without overpowering the beer’s balance. It’s perfect for light beers such as Pale Ales, Hazy IPAs and Blonde Ales, where a touch of body and malt complexity is desired.
Compared to our wider crystal malt range, Caramalt is light, soft and more fermentable, contributing sweetness and mouthfeel rather than heavy caramel or raisin-like flavours.
Typically used at 5-15% in grists, it enhances body and malt richness while keeping the beer’s profile bright and drinkable. It’s an excellent choice for brewers looking to soften hop bitterness and create a smooth, slightly sweet malt backbone.
