Simpsons Malt says “You’re hired” to apprentices

At Simpsons Malt we are very fortunate to work with a talented and dedicated team of employees. Providing training and offering support to these employees is key to staff development and retention.

Taking on apprenticeships in the Summer of 2014, Jamie White and Bradley Smith are now fully fledged permanent members of staff at our Tweed Valley Maltings.

Since starting in the engineering department, Jamie and Brad have come on in leaps and bounds, having both gained level 2 and level 3 engineering qualifications from Edinburgh College in Dalkeith. Jamie now specialises in control systems and has just been confirmed in a Lead Technician role, while Bradley has a role that sees him looking after site mechanical issues with just one other colleague.

We are so proud of Jamie and Brad’s achievements. It’s fantastic to have them as part of the Simpsons Malt family! We look forward to supporting them as they continue to develop their careers.

Continuing our support of young people and employee development, we welcomed Andrew Cairns this year to our engineering apprenticeship scheme alongside Ryan Oliver, who joins us in Berwick as an accounting apprentice to work towards his CIMA qualification.

It doesn’t end there – applications are currently being accepted for an engineering apprenticeship vacancy at our Tivetshall Maltings site in Norfolk.
