This one is from our extra special malt and grains range – known for adding a particularly special taste and flavour to beers. Taste & flavour
Red Rye Crystal malt adds an interesting sweet bread flavour to many beers, producing a nutty flavour when used at higher volumes.
Used at around 10%, Red Rye Crystal is best in Rye or Red Beers.
Fans of this speciality malt include Adnams, Sole Bay Brewery Head Brewer, Fergus Fitzgerald.
He said: “I love Red Rye Crystal. At low amounts, it adds subtle bready notes and at higher amounts, we get a great nutty flavour as well as a fantastic warm red colour.”
