The Great British Beer Festival, taking place in London from 6th-10th August, is the place to head for fans of amazing food, live music and, of course, award-winning brews.
The festival, organised by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), gives visitors the chance to try a huge range of real ales, international beers, real ciders and perries while experiencing some brilliant live entertainment and delicious food. If you’re lucky enough to be going, here’s what you can expect…
Real ale
Over 400 breweries and 1000 beers, ciders and perries are set to be at this year’s festival, so those of you who are barmy about brewing won’t be disappointed.
CAMRA champions British pubs and real ales, and the Great British Beer Festival is a great opportunity to find out more about their organisation’s work in supporting the British brewing industry. CAMRA book authors will also be there for book signings and to talk about their work.
Entertainment
Entertainment is included in the price of a ticket, with live music taking place in the afternoon and evenings. Expect a fun silent disco alongside music from the likes of Queen tribute band Bulsara & His Queenies, The Bogus Brothers and the Fulham Brass Band. With a great variety of acts on show, there’s bound to be music to suit every taste.
Festival-goers will also be able to test their skill on a collection of traditional pub games, browse the festival shop for books about beer and pick up some nifty brewery memorabilia.
Best of beer
The beer and cider tastings on offer at the Great British Beer Festival will be a real treat for brewing enthusiasts across the board. Sessions range from USA beers and home brewing to the more unusual beer and chocolate pairing.
The exciting CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain competition will also be taking place at the festival, with our brewing customers Otter Brewery and Vocation Brewery amongst those competing to be crowned. It’s going to be a tough task to judge the winner – who do you think is going to come out on top?
Food
Once your thirst for some top-quality brews has been satisfied, there’s a huge range of London’s best street food stalls to fill up on. Exotic Burgers will be serving up weird and wonderful creations such as kangaroo and zebra burgers, while Monster’s Pie and Mash will be dishing out a range of delicious gourmet pies.
It’s shaping up to be four days of the best brewing, fantastic food and marvellous music – will you be attending the Great British Beer Festival this year? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook, we’d love to have a chat about it!
