Sir Ian Good CBE

Simpsons Malt Limited is saddened to learn that former Non-Executive Director, Sir Ian Good CBE, has passed away at the age of 80.

Sir Ian sat on the Board of Directors of Simpsons Malt Ltd from 2005 until 2016, while he was also on the Board of Directors of Edrington – one of the company’s largest Scotch whisky industry partners – from 1979 until 2013, the last 19 years of which as Chairman.

Speaking about the passing of Sir Ian, Simpsons Malt Ltd Managing Director, Tim McCreath, said: “In the 11 years Sir Ian spent on our Board of Directors, he was a hugely influential figure and his decades of experience in the Scotch whisky industry undoubtedly helped to drive our fifth-generation family business forward.

“We’re immensely grateful to Sir Ian for his role in helping to forge the close supplier relationship between Edrington and Simpsons Malt Ltd, which has been in place for the past 25 years and continues to go from strength to strength.

“He was also influential in the formation of our charitable arm, The Simpson McCreath Trust, following his many years as Chair of The Robertson Trust.

“Sir Ian will be sadly missed and all at Simpsons Malt Ltd send their sincere condolences to Lady Irene, his daughters and their families, as well as the wider Edrington family.”
