Support for local drama club from The Simpson McCreath Trust

The Simpson McCreath Trust, run by local Berwick-upon-Tweed maltsters, Simpsons Malt, has donated £1250 to nearby drama club, Tideline Runners Theatre Company.

The Tideline Runners Theatre Company provides opportunities for local amateur actors to work alongside theatre professionals to help improve and develop their skills.

The grant has contributed to the group’s production of ‘Sam and Isla Forever’, a play that commemorates The Great War. Over 50 actors aged between 12 and 80 will participate in the play, which will be shown at the Maltings Theatre on the 16th-18th of August.

The Simpson McCreath Trust is pleased to support this local initiative and has previously awarded grants to other local schools, sports teams and community projects.

Board member David McCreath said, “We are happy to help fund this important project within our local community. Our Trust was set up to provide people with opportunities, particularly young people, and to help support our community. That’s why we have chosen to support Tideline Runners Theatre Company because of this.”

Robert Flynn, Artistic Director of the Tideline Runners added, “We thank The Simpsons McCreath Trust for their generous donation. The production of Sam and Isla Forever will benefit a cast of 50 local performers from several generations, helping to improve their skills and encourage a culture of fitness and health during the rehearsal period.

“The message of this piece is ‘forgiveness’. We believe it will help form lasting bonds and respect within the cast which we hope will spiral outwards.”
